Chennai, April 5 – Delhi Capitals finally ended their 15-year drought in Chennai with a convincing 25-run win over Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2025 clash at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Batting first after winning the toss, DC posted a competitive total of 183/6 in their 20 overs. KL Rahul anchored the innings with a composed 77 off 51 balls, smashing 3 sixes and 6 fours. Though DC lost opener Jake Fraser-McGurk in the very first over, Rahul and Abhishek Porel (33 off 20) stitched together a steady partnership to steady the innings.

Despite losing wickets at intervals, Rahul kept the scoreboard ticking, ensuring his team reached a defendable total. For CSK, Khaleel Ahmed was the standout bowler, returning figures of 2 for 25 in his four overs.

Chasing 184, CSK never truly got going. The hosts struggled to keep up with the required run rate and ended their innings at 158/5. While MS Dhoni remained unbeaten with 30 runs off 26 balls, the lack of momentum from the top order cost the team.

The win marked Delhi Capitals’ third straight victory in IPL 2025 and their first triumph over CSK in Chennai since 2010, snapping a long-standing jinx.
