Fitness coach and nutritionist Vimal Rajput recently shared a viral video on Instagram addressing the common mistakes many women make while trying to lose lower belly fat. Captioned “Here’s what I see women constantly doing in hopes of losing lower belly fat,” the post emphasizes that certain daily habits could actually be stalling progress instead of helping it.

From ignoring strength training to inconsistent eating patterns, Rajput breaks down nine things women should stop doing if they genuinely want results:

  1. Skipping meals, especially breakfast.
  2. Only doing cardio workouts without lifting any weights.
  3. Not tracking protein intake and relying on protein bars/powders without monitoring daily calorie consumption.
  4. Drinking alcohol, especially wine, which disrupts sleep and slows down fat loss.
  5. Eating healthy only during weekdays and binging on weekends.
  6. Not including fruits and vegetables in daily meals.
  7. Living in constant stress, always saying yes to others, and not managing mental well-being.
  8. Getting less than 7 hours of sleep per night.
  9. Leading a sedentary lifestyle, walking fewer than 5,000 steps daily.

Rajput emphasizes that fat loss—especially around the belly and hips—requires a consistent calorie deficit, a protein intake of at least 100g daily, and a shift from “dieting just during the week.” She also discourages relying solely on cardio, stating that strength training is key to building lean muscle and achieving real, lasting fat loss.

While many hope for spot reduction, the coach reminds her followers that fat loss doesn’t work that way. Instead, building balanced meals with real food and adopting a sustainable routine is the path to success.
