- Indian Railways Plans 4 New Va ...

In a significant development for Bihar’s railway network, Indian Railways is planning to introduce four new Vande Bharat Express trains from Muzaffarpur. The move aims to enhance connectivity and bring high-speed rail travel to more regions of the state. A feasibility study has been initiated to assess the practicality and demand for the proposed services.
According to a report by Live Hindustan, the Railway Board has asked the East Central Railway (ECR) to submit a detailed feasibility report before finalizing the routes. The Sonpur division, under ECR, has been tasked with preparing the report, with officials at Muzaffarpur Junction already beginning data collection and passenger surveys.
Proposed Routes for the New Vande Bharat Services:
- Muzaffarpur to New Delhi
- Muzaffarpur to New Jalpaiguri
- Muzaffarpur to Howrah
- Muzaffarpur to Varanasi
Why a Feasibility Study?
The feasibility report is essential to ensure the successful implementation of new train services. The study will evaluate:
- Passenger Demand – Analysis of booking trends and on-ground feedback
- Technical Feasibility – Examination of current infrastructure and required upgrades
- Operational Impact – Assessment of how the new services may affect existing train schedules
- Economic Viability – Revenue projections and affordability
Teams from the commercial and operations departments will conduct the study over the next 15 days. They’ll review Passenger Reservation System (PRS) data and also interact with travelers at the station to gather insights.
Passenger Voices to Shape the Project
To ensure that the decision is in sync with public needs, railway officials will actively seek feedback from passengers. The study will be conducted confidentially to maintain transparency and eliminate bias.
If approved, these four new Vande Bharat trains could transform Muzaffarpur into a major railway hub, providing faster and more efficient travel options to key cities like Delhi, Kolkata (Howrah), Jalpaiguri, and Varanasi.
The final decision will be made by the Railway Board after reviewing the feasibility report. This expansion marks a continued effort by Indian Railways to improve high-speed connectivity across India.
