PM Modi Sends Easter 2025 Greetings, Emphasizes Jubilee Year’s Spiritual Importance
On Easter Sunday 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt wishes to citizens across the country, describing the occasion as both “blessed and joyous.” He noted that this year’s Easter holds added spiritual importance as it coincides with the Catholic Church’s Jubilee Year, celebrated every 25 years.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi shared:
“Wishing everyone a blessed and joyous Easter. This Easter is special because world over, the Jubilee Year is being observed with immense fervour.”
He added, “May this sacred occasion inspire hope, renewal and compassion in every person. May there be joy and harmony all around.”
What is a Jubilee Year?
A Jubilee Year, often referred to as a “holy year,” is a significant event in the Catholic Church that calls for spiritual reflection, forgiveness, and renewed connection with God. The theme for Holy Year 2025 is “Pilgrims of Hope.”
While Jubilee Years have been observed regularly since 1300 in Catholic tradition, they draw inspiration from Jewish customs dating back even further. In Jewish history, Jubilee Years were times for restoring justice—returning misappropriated lands, forgiving debts, and allowing fields to lie fallow.
According to the Vatican, this sacred tradition is aimed at healing relationships—with God, with one another, and with creation. The Church also offers opportunities for special indulgences during Jubilee Years, meant to cleanse the soul and strengthen faith through divine grace.
PM Modi’s message aligns with these values, calling for compassion, renewal, and unity among people during this spiritually uplifting season.
