CBI Busts Senior Doctor for Rs 10 Lakh Bribe to Secure Favorable Medical College Review

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a senior doctor who serves as an assessor with the National Medical Commission (NMC) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh. The bribe was reportedly taken in Kolkata, West Bengal, in exchange for issuing a favorable inspection report to a private medical college.

The arrest highlights ongoing concerns regarding corruption in the accreditation and inspection processes of educational institutions. The doctor allegedly promised a positive review to the institution in Belgavi in return for the substantial sum.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities probe the extent of malpractice in the medical education sector and strive to uphold integrity in regulatory oversight.
