Kozhikode: Train services between Kozhikode and Mangaluru were brought to a halt for over three hours on Sunday following heavy rainfall that left debris scattered across the railway tracks. The obstruction severely affected rail traffic along the busy corridor, causing delays and inconvenience to passengers.
According to railway officials, the debris—primarily soil and uprooted vegetation—was deposited onto the tracks due to continuous downpours and poor drainage in the region. Maintenance crews were dispatched immediately to clear the route and ensure safety before resuming operations.
Train services were gradually restored after the cleanup and safety inspection. Passengers are advised to check updates from Indian Railways before commencing travel, especially during the ongoing monsoon season when such disruptions are more frequent.
Authorities are monitoring the situation closely to prevent further interruptions as more rainfall is expected in the region.
