Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Mizoram, Manipur, Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar from 13 to 15 September 2025, unveiling development projects worth several thousand crores across the eastern and northeastern states.
Mizoram Schedule
On 13 September, Modi will begin his tour in Aizawl, Mizoram, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects valued at over ₹9,000 crore. The highlight is the ₹8,070 crore Bairabi-Sairang New Rail Line, connecting Mizoram’s capital to the Indian Railways network for the first time. He will also flag off three express trains—Sairang-Delhi Rajdhani, Sairang-Guwahati, and Sairang-Kolkata Express. Road projects like the Aizawl Bypass Road and Chhimtuipui River Bridge are also on the agenda, along with a new Khelo India Indoor Sports Hall.
First Visit to Manipur Since 2023 Violence
Later that day, Modi will arrive in Manipur, marking his first visit since the ethnic violence of May 2023, which left over 260 dead and displaced 50,000 people.
- In Churachandpur (12:30 PM), he will lay the foundation stone for projects worth ₹7,300 crore, including urban roads, drainage, five national highway projects, and the Manipur Infotech Development (MIND) project.
- In Imphal (2:30 PM), he will inaugurate projects exceeding ₹1,200 crore, such as the new Civil Secretariat, IT SEZ Building, Police Headquarters, Manipur Bhawans in Delhi and Kolkata, and upgrades to the state’s iconic Ima Markets.
Assam Leg
In Guwahati, Modi will join celebrations marking the 100th birth anniversary of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika on the evening of 13 September. The next day, 14 September, he will launch and inaugurate projects worth ₹18,530 crore, including the Assam Bio-Ethanol Private Limited, an expansion of the Numaligarh Refinery, and a Polypropylene Plant in Golaghat.
West Bengal and Bihar
On 15 September, Modi will head to Kolkata to inaugurate the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference, a high-level meeting of India’s top military and civilian leadership. Later in the day, he will reach Purnea, Bihar, to inaugurate the new terminal at Purnea Airport and launch development projects worth ₹36,000 crore, including Bihar’s largest private power project—a 3×800 MW thermal plant in Bhagalpur. He will also launch the National Makhana Board and inaugurate a Sex Sorted Semen Facility, aimed at boosting dairy productivity for farmers in eastern India.
