BHAVNAGAR (GUJARAT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch a massive wave of infrastructure and development projects worth over ₹34,200 crore during his visit to Gujarat on Saturday. The event, held at Jawahar Maidan, Bhavnagar, is part of the government’s flagship “Samudra se Samriddhi” programme.

Maritime Sector in Focus

A major highlight of the event is the inauguration of India’s largest cruise terminal at Mumbai’s Indira Dock, designed to transform India’s cruise tourism industry. Alongside, Modi will lay the foundation stone for a new container terminal at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port (Kolkata) and launch multiple maritime projects worth ₹7,870 crore.

Key projects include:

  • New cargo berth and container facilities at Paradip Port, Odisha
  • Tuna Tekra Multi-Cargo Terminal in Gujarat
  • Modernisation at Kamarajar Port (Ennore), Chennai Port, Car Nicobar, and Deendayal Port (Kandla)
  • Development of inland waterway facilities at Patna and Varanasi

Gujarat Projects: Clean Energy & Connectivity

In Gujarat alone, Modi will inaugurate projects worth ₹26,354 crore across renewable energy, healthcare, and urban infrastructure. These include:

  • HPLNG Regasification Terminal at Chhara Port
  • Acrylics and Oxo Alcohol Project at Gujarat IOCL Refinery
  • 600 MW Green Shoe Initiative and 475 MW PM-KUSUM solar feeder for farmers
  • Badeli 45 MW Solar PV Project and complete solarisation of Dhordo village

Healthcare upgrades include expansions at Sir T. General Hospital, Bhavnagar, and Guru Govind Sinh Hospital, Jamnagar. Additionally, the four-laning of 70 km of national highways will improve connectivity and trade routes in Gujarat.

Boost to Public-Private Partnerships

Several MoUs will be signed between government entities and private sector players, strengthening public-private partnerships to accelerate growth and investment in the region.

Vision for Dholera SIR

The Prime Minister will also conduct an aerial survey of the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR), a futuristic greenfield smart city project focused on sustainable industrialisation and global investments.
