NEW DELHI: Nissan Motor India is preparing for a major product expansion, set to increase its portfolio from the current single offering, the Magnite SUV, to four models within the next two years. The move reflects Nissan’s renewed focus on India as a crucial growth market and export hub.

Managing Director Saurabh Vatsa confirmed that Nissan will launch three new vehicles in quick succession:

  • A B-MPV in early 2026
  • A 5-seater C-SUV by mid-2026
  • A 7-seater C-SUV in early 2027

Testing for these vehicles is already underway on Indian roads. The B-MPV, likely based on the Renault Triber’s CMF-A platform, will feature unique Nissan styling with redesigned bumpers, front fascia, and updated LED tail lamps. It is expected to carry the familiar 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine.

GST 2.0 To Drive Competitive Pricing

Vatsa highlighted that the upcoming GST 2.0 reforms, effective from September 22, 2025, will benefit Nissan’s new lineup. “The portfolio is going to benefit with this entire GST reform. Consumers will get a much better choice starting early next year,” he said.

Dealers and customers have already delayed purchases until after September 22, anticipating lower prices and festive offers. Nissan expects the combination of GST reforms and the festive season to deliver a significant boost to sales in the second half of the year.

No Immediate Small Car Plans

Despite strong expectations for the small car segment under GST 2.0, Nissan has no short-term plans to enter it. Vatsa admitted, “We cannot do any instant Nirvana for next year and bring in another new car,” but agreed that the segment is poised for major growth.

India As A Global Hub

India remains central to Nissan’s global strategy. The Magnite is already exported to over 65 countries, and the company aims to reach 100,000 annual units (domestic + exports) with the help of its expanded portfolio.

“Our ambition is clear—India is not just a domestic market but also a key export hub,” Vatsa said, underscoring Nissan’s long-term commitment to India.
