Kochi – Due to persistent heavy rainfall across parts of Kerala, authorities have declared a holiday on Friday for all educational institutions—including schools, colleges, and professional training centers—in two districts and three taluks of the state.
The decision comes as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) continues to issue alerts for intense showers and potential flooding in low-lying regions. Local administrations in the affected regions have taken the precautionary step to ensure the safety of students and staff.
The districts and taluks under the holiday directive are expected to receive significant rainfall, with reports of waterlogging and minor disruptions in transportation already surfacing in several areas.
Officials urged residents to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow weather updates and advisories closely. Emergency response teams have been placed on standby, and control rooms have been set up for public assistance.
Further decisions regarding weekend classes or potential extension of the holiday will be communicated based on updated weather assessments.
