Actress and model Kayadu Lohar has been making waves in the Tamil film industry with her breakthrough performance in Dragon. The Ashwath Marimuthu-directed film has not only won over audiences but also solidified her presence in the industry. Reflecting on her journey, Kayadu shared how she overcame challenges to reach this milestone and hopes to inspire young girls with similar aspirations.
A Journey Rooted in Determination
Coming from a lower middle-class background, Kayadu had to navigate numerous obstacles to pursue her dream of acting. “It’s not easy for a girl like me to chase big dreams, but I want to prove that it’s possible. I want to inspire other girls who dare to dream,” she told the Times of India.
Her foray into the entertainment industry began when her mother encouraged her to participate in Times Fresh Face Season 12 during her college days. Winning the competition proved to be a turning point, leading her to her first advertisement project and eventually her debut in Kannada cinema with Mugilpete.
Passion for Acting Since Childhood
Though her professional career started in adulthood, Kayadu’s love for acting was nurtured from a young age. Reminiscing about her childhood, the 24-year-old actress recalled dancing to iconic songs like Chaiyya Chaiyya and mimicking legendary actresses Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi.
The Impact of Dragon’s Success
With Dragon performing exceptionally well, Kayadu is finally getting the recognition she long desired. “The response has been surreal. Before Dragon, no one knew who I was. Now, directors and producers see potential in me. It’s a tough industry, but I’m grateful that people now recognize me for my character in the film. I’m finally getting the kind of roles I’ve always dreamed of,” she said.

Following the success of Dragon, Kayadu is set to star in two exciting projects:
- Idhayam Murali, a coming-of-age Tamil film directed by Aakash Baskaran, opposite Atharvaa.
