Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar shared a playful moment at the IIFA 2025 awards, where the actor took a lighthearted dig at the filmmaker regarding the recent sale of 50 percent of Dharma Productions’ stakes to Adar Poonawalla, CEO of Serum Institute.
In a now-viral video, Kartik jokingly expressed his desire to partner with Karan. The filmmaker, known for his quick wit, asked, “Kya banoge Kartik? Kapde wala, joote wala, cosmetic wala, property wala?” (What will you be? A clothing brand owner, a shoemaker, a cosmetics dealer, or a real estate tycoon?). Kartik promptly retorted, “Poonawalla? Woh nahi bola aapne.” (You didn’t mention Poonawalla?).
Karan, keeping the banter going, replied, “Suno, unka aadar se naam lo. 50 percent stake hai unka.” (Take his name with respect. He owns a 50 percent stake). Not missing a beat, Kartik cheekily added, “Maine 51 percent suna tha.” (I heard it was 51 percent).
