The Ministry of Culture will commemorate the 11th International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2025, with large-scale celebrations at 150 destinations across India, including 100 iconic tourist spots and 50 cultural heritage sites, many of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
These nationwide sessions will complement the main event in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan are also expected to attend.
Among the UNESCO sites hosting yoga sessions are Rani Ki Vav and Dholavira (Gujarat), Charaideo Moidam (Assam), Hampi and Pattadakal (Karnataka), Khajuraho and Sanchi Stupa (Madhya Pradesh), Konark Sun Temple (Odisha), Elephanta Caves (Maharashtra), and Brihadisvara Temple (Tamil Nadu).
Prominent historic sites like Golconda Fort and Salarjung Museum (Hyderabad), Humayun’s Tomb and Purana Qila (Delhi), Jallianwala Bagh (Punjab), Chittorgarh and Kumbhalgarh Forts (Rajasthan), Leh Palace (Ladakh), Pari Mahal (Srinagar), Bekal Fort (Kerala), and Hazarduari and Cooch Behar Palaces (West Bengal) will also host yoga sessions.

The Ministry of Tourism will organise a mass yoga session at the Sun Dial Lawns of Qutub Minar, Delhi—also a UNESCO World Heritage Site—on June 21 from 6 to 8 a.m.
This year’s global theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” highlights the connection between holistic health and environmental harmony. The initiative aims to promote yoga as a transformative tool for mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will conduct special sessions at five key monuments in Punjab and Haryana under the Chandigarh Circle. These include Bathinda Fort, Shamsher Khan’s Tomb, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Fort, Jallianwala Bagh, and Ruined Qila in Hansi.
Marking a decade of global recognition since the United Nations declared June 21 as International Yoga Day in 2014, the Ministry’s initiative reaffirms India’s dedication to integrating ancient wellness practices with its cultural heritage.
