A Hyderabad-bound IndiGo flight from Jeddah was diverted to Mumbai early on Saturday morning following a bomb threat email received by authorities at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA).
According to police officials, the email — received around 5:30 am — warned that a “human bomb” was onboard the Jeddah–Hyderabad IndiGo flight and referenced a ‘1984 Madras Airport-style blast’, claiming operatives linked to LTTE and ISI were involved.
The alarming message instructed authorities to “prevent the landing of the IndiGo flight in Hyderabad.”
Following established security protocols, the aircraft was immediately diverted to Mumbai, where it landed safely under heightened security arrangements. Upon landing, comprehensive security checks were conducted by CISF and Mumbai Police, and no suspicious item or person was found, officials confirmed.
“All checks were carried out and no issue was found,” said a senior Mumbai Police officer, adding that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway to trace the origin of the threat email.

In a statement, IndiGo confirmed that flight 6E-68 from Jeddah to Hyderabad received a security threat on November 1, prompting an immediate diversion to Mumbai as a precautionary measure.
“The airline followed the standard security protocol and informed all relevant authorities,” an IndiGo spokesperson said. “We fully cooperated with them in the investigation and made every effort to minimise inconvenience to our passengers, including offering refreshments and timely updates.”
The aircraft was later cleared for further operations after all safety procedures were completed.
