Wider GST Reforms
Starting September 22, 2025, GST on small cars, two-wheelers up to 350cc, three-wheelers, buses, and ambulances will be reduced to 18%, bringing down the prices of popular mass-market vehicles such as the Honda Activa, Hero Splendor, Bajaj Pulsar, Maruti Suzuki Alto, Hyundai Grand i10, and Tata Tiago.
At the same time, GST on auto components has been streamlined into a uniform 18% slab, replacing the earlier complicated classification system. Compact hybrid cars also benefit from this reform.
However, luxury vehicles, SUVs, and motorcycles above 350cc will now attract a 40% GST rate. Agricultural machinery has also seen relief, with GST reduced from 12% to 5% on tractors, harvesters, threshers, and other essential equipment.
Industry experts expect the move to boost demand during the festive season and provide a big push to both personal mobility and the automobile sector.
