Delhi Metro to Operate Early Morning Services for International Yoga Day on June 21

To support the mass participation in the 11th International Day of Yoga, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced early morning services across all lines on Saturday, June 21, 2025. Trains will commence operations from 4:00 AM at all terminal stations and will run at 30-minute intervals until normal service resumes.

This initiative is aimed at ensuring hassle-free transportation for yoga participants attending public demonstrations and events, particularly in the National Capital Region.

🧘‍♀️ Yoga Day 2025: Nationwide Celebrations Under One Theme

This year’s celebrations will revolve around the powerful theme: “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” The message highlights the symbiotic relationship between human well-being and the environment, resonating with India’s broader global vision of “One Earth, One Family, One Future,” first presented during its G20 presidency.

The central celebration will take place in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead a mass yoga session alongside thousands of participants.

A flagship event titled “Yoga Sangam” is scheduled from 6:30 AM to 7:45 AM, with simultaneous mass yoga demonstrations following the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) at over 100,000 locations nationwide.

🧘‍♂️ The Global Impact of Yoga

Recognised as a global symbol of holistic health, yoga has its origins in ancient Indian tradition. The Sanskrit word ‘yuj’, meaning “to unite,” reflects the essence of yoga: harmony between body and mind, thought and action, and humanity and nature.

Since the UN’s adoption of India’s proposal in 2014, June 21—coinciding with the Summer Solstice, the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere—has been observed globally as International Day of Yoga. A record 175 nations endorsed the resolution, establishing it as a unifying observance for physical and mental well-being.

🏆 PM Yoga Awards to Honor Yoga Excellence

To commemorate the efforts of individuals and institutions in promoting yoga, the government will also present the PM Yoga Awards, celebrating excellence in yoga education, practice, and awareness campaigns across the globe.

As millions in India and around the world prepare their yoga mats for June 21, Delhi Metro’s early services underscore the importance of collective support for a practice that continues to shape the path to health, mindfulness, and sustainability.
