Actor Deepika Padukone has exited the much-anticipated sequel of Kalki 2898 AD, despite already completing nearly 20 days of shoot, according to reports. Production house Vyjayanthi Movies officially confirmed her departure, citing an inability to “find a partnership.”
Reported Reasons Behind Exit
As per sources, Deepika sought a substantial pay hike — beyond 25% of her earlier fee — convinced that her role was irreplaceable. She reportedly also placed strict conditions such as a 7-hour workday cap, 5-star accommodations for her 25-member crew, and exclusive luxury arrangements during the shoot.
While some reports attributed her exit to a “date clash,” insiders dismissed the claim, pointing out that she was fully aware of the sequel’s schedule and had already filmed portions during the shoot of Part 1.
Official Statement from Vyjayanthi Movies
The production house issued a statement on X, confirming the split:
“After careful consideration, we have decided to part ways. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find a partnership. Kalki 2898 AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish Deepika Padukone the best with her future works.”
