Metro commuters in Bengaluru faced delays on Saturday afternoon after a man jumped onto the tracks at Kempegowda Metro Station just as a train was approaching.
The incident occurred around 3:17 PM, briefly halting operations on the Green Line.
According to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), metro staff and security personnel acted swiftly, rescuing the man and taking him to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Services Restored Within 30 Minutes
Metro services were disrupted for about 30 minutes, during which trains operated only between Madavara and Rajajinagar, and National College and Silk Institute stations.
Normal operations resumed by 3:47 PM, BMRCL confirmed in an official statement.
Officials said safety procedures were immediately followed to prevent any further accidents and to restore normal service as quickly as possible. The reasons behind the man’s actions are still under investigation.
Caste Survey Protest Adds to Bengaluru’s Saturday Disruptions
In a separate development, enumerators conducting Karnataka’s Social and Educational (Caste) Survey staged a protest at the Malleswaram municipal office on Saturday, demanding that their grievances be addressed.
Around 100 enumerators, many of them government teachers, cited personal and health challenges as reasons for their protest.
A woman reportedly brought her special child to the protest site to highlight her difficulties.
Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar met the protesters and urged citizens to cooperate with the survey, which began on September 22 and will run till October 7 across Karnataka.
The survey, conducted at an estimated cost of ₹420 crore, aims to collect socio-economic data for policymaking.
