Railways Reverses Friday Service Cancellation

In a quick response to strong passenger demand, the South Central Railway (SCR) has reinstated the Friday service of the Yesvantpur–Kacheguda Vande Bharat Express, reversing an earlier decision to cancel it.

The announcement comes just weeks after the initial cancellation sparked widespread public concern, particularly from regular commuters who rely on the semi-high-speed train for weekend travel between Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

Public Feedback Leads to Reconsideration

According to a report by The Times of India, consistent passenger appeals prompted SCR to conduct a review of its operational plans.
A Sridar, Chief Public Relations Officer of SCR, confirmed the reinstatement and said that while the Friday run presented logistical challenges, new arrangements have been made to meet strong weekend travel demand.

“Operational adjustments are being implemented to ensure the convenience of passengers who depend on this route,” he said.

Train Schedule and Route Details

The Yesvantpur–Kacheguda Vande Bharat Express covers approximately 612 kilometres with six intermediate stops.

• Departure (Hyderabad): 5:45 a.m. from Kacheguda
• Arrival (Bengaluru): 2:00 p.m. at Yesvantpur
• Return Journey: Departs Yesvantpur at 2:45 p.m., reaches Kacheguda at 11:00 p.m.
• Weekly Off: Wednesday (maintenance day)

The train offers Executive Class and AC Chair Car services and is known for its comfort, punctuality, and shorter travel duration compared to conventional express trains.

Why It Matters

The decision marks a policy U-turn by the Railways and underscores how public opinion is influencing transport operations.
Initially, SCR had cancelled the Friday service to accommodate maintenance needs. However, in light of commuter feedback, those maintenance schedules have now been reorganized — ensuring passengers retain the crucial Friday connection between the two tech hubs.

The move reflects both the growing popularity of India’s Vande Bharat Express trains and the responsiveness of the Railways to passenger sentiment.
