The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) has announced an eight-day power shutdown across multiple areas of the city for essential maintenance, repair, and upgradation work. The scheduled outage, which began earlier this week, will continue till October 31.

According to BESCOM, the planned shutdown is required to upgrade infrastructure at several substations and 11 kV feeder lines to ensure long-term reliability of power supply. The power outage is expected to last for about eight hours each day, from 10 AM to 6 PM.

The electricity provider has appealed to residents to plan their activities in advance to minimize inconvenience. However, officials have also assured that power will be restored earlier if the work is completed ahead of schedule.

Areas Affected by the Power Cut

Several major residential and commercial zones in Bengaluru will experience intermittent power supply during this period, including:

  • Banashankari
  • JP Nagar
  • Jayanagar
  • BTM Layout
  • Vijayanagar
  • Nagarbhavi
  • Rajarajeshwari Nagar
  • Kengeri
  • Chandra Layout
  • Vidyaranyapura
  • Yelahanka
  • HSR Layout
  • Koramangala
  • Indiranagar
  • Mahadevapura
  • KR Puram
  • Electronic City
  • Whitefield

BESCOM stated that the shutdown is a part of its pre-winter preventive maintenance program, aimed at reducing unplanned outages during the high-demand festive and winter months.

🚧 Traffic Restrictions Also in Place

Meanwhile, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has imposed temporary traffic diversions on Panathur Main Road, where ongoing white-topping and repair works are expected to take a few more days. Commuters have been advised to use alternate routes until further notice.

Residents across Bengaluru are urged to stay updated through BESCOM’s official social-media handles and helpline for real-time power-restoration updates.
