Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar, widely celebrated for his humility and passion for motor racing, has opened up about his decision to move to Dubai and live a life away from the limelight.

In a candid conversation with film critic Anupama Chopra, the 54-year-old actor discussed why he chose to dismiss his entourage and handle his daily life independently — a rare move in an industry known for luxury and celebrity assistants.

Ajith, who comes from a middle-class background, said his upbringing shaped his grounded approach.

“I had wonderful parents who were way ahead of their time. We were taught to cook at the age of seven or eight. Doing things on your own was normal for us,” he said.

While he acknowledged that entourages make life easier for many stars, he warned that “it can spoil you over time.” Ajith admitted that in the past, being surrounded by too many people had made him dependent, something he later felt ashamed of.

🌍 Why Ajith Moved to Dubai

The actor revealed that peace, simplicity, and motorsport were his primary reasons for relocating.

“I moved to Dubai to stay away from all the noise. I am primarily here for motorsports as most of the major circuits happen here. I’m having to do everything myself — and I’m loving it,” he shared.

Ajith explained that Dubai’s environment allows him to balance his passion for racing and his preference for a self-reliant lifestyle. Away from constant media scrutiny and celebrity culture, he finds the independence “liberating.”

Reflecting on his past, Ajith said that if someone had met him two decades ago, they “would have probably hated” him — not out of arrogance, but because of how the trappings of fame can cloud one’s personality.

He emphasized that living independently in Dubai has helped him rediscover clarity, humility, and discipline.
