The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has announced that Malayalam superstar Mohanlal will be honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2023, the highest recognition in Indian cinema.
Sharing the news on X (formerly Twitter), the Ministry praised Mohanlal’s cinematic legacy:
“Mohanlal’s remarkable journey continues to inspire generations. The legendary actor, director, and producer is being honoured for his iconic contribution to Indian Cinema.”
The award will be formally conferred at the 71st National Film Awards ceremony on September 23, 2025.
Known for his versatile performances across decades, Mohanlal has not only redefined Malayalam cinema but also left a lasting impact on Indian film culture at large.
This recognition cements his place among the greatest legends of Indian cinema.
