PM Modi to Inaugurate Redeveloped Tripureswari Temple in Tripura on September 22
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Tripura on September 22 to unveil the redeveloped Tripureswari temple, Chief Minister Manik Saha confirmed on Sunday.
Speaking at the Neermahal Jal Utsav in Sepahijala district, Saha said he personally invited the Prime Minister to inaugurate the temple project, and the invitation was accepted. “PM Modi is coming to unveil the redeveloped Tripureswari temple on September 22 and will also offer puja there,” Saha announced.
Temple Redevelopment Under PRASAD Scheme
The Tripureswari temple, one of the revered Shakti Piths, has undergone redevelopment under the Centre’s PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) scheme at a cost of ₹51 crore. The project aims to enhance spiritual tourism and preserve the cultural heritage of the region.
Saha also highlighted another ambitious project in Gomati district’s Bandower, where replicas of all 51 Shakti Piths are being built at an estimated cost of ₹97 crore. “We cannot visit all the 51 Shakti Piths as they are spread across countries like Bangladesh and Nepal. Once completed, devotees will be able to witness all the Shakti Piths in one location,” he explained.
Promoting Neermahal as a Tourism Hub
The Chief Minister also appealed to citizens to promote Neermahal, the state’s iconic lake palace built in 1930 by Maharaja Bir Bikram. Declared a Ramsar site in 2007, Neermahal remains a hidden gem. “Its beauty is comparable to Udaipur’s lake palace. We must promote Neermahal on social media to attract more tourists,” Saha urged.
