A confirmed reporting outage has affected Google Search Console’s Core Web Vitals (CWV) mobile data, with reports dropping sharply around July 10 and completely halting by July 14. Initially thought to be a site-specific issue, the glitch has now been linked to the Chrome User Experience Report (CrUX), which gathers real-world performance data from opted-in Chrome users.
Concerned users flagged the problem on social platforms like Bluesky and X (formerly Twitter), noticing a drastic drop in both “good” and “needs improvement” URLs for mobile performance in the CWV report. Google’s John Mueller initially dismissed it as a result of sample shifts or natural web dynamics, but as more developers chimed in, it became evident the issue was more widespread.
Eventually, Barry Pollard, Web Performance Developer Advocate at Chrome, acknowledged the dip in metrics and confirmed a potential fix is in the works. While he clarified he doesn’t directly manage the Search Console team, he did affirm there’s an ongoing CrUX data issue affecting mobile reports and that an update will follow.
CrUX, or Chrome UX Report, is the primary data pipeline for Core Web Vitals and is used to report how real users experience websites. Any disruption in its flow directly affects what appears in Google Search Console.
The root cause of the outage has not been officially disclosed, but Google assures the community that measures are underway to resolve it. Until then, developers and site owners are advised not to panic, as the issue lies with Google’s reporting infrastructure—not with individual site performance.
