Aamir Khan has always been open about his son Junaid Khan’s entry into Bollywood, and in a recent interview, he shared his perspective on Junaid’s big-screen debut and its box office performance. Junaid, who starred opposite Khushi Kapoor in the romantic comedy Loveyapa, created buzz with his debut but faced a lukewarm response at the box office. However, instead of disappointment, Aamir views the setback as a valuable lesson.
Speaking to Instant Bollywood, Aamir commented on the film’s underperformance, saying, “Accha hua” (It’s good that it happened). He explained that facing challenges early in one’s career helps build resilience and growth, adding, “I think he’s doing well, and he will continue to learn.”
Despite the film’s commercial struggles, Aamir praised Junaid’s dedication and transformation into his roles. Highlighting his performances in Maharaj and Loveyapa, Aamir expressed admiration for his son’s ability to immerse himself in characters. “While watching Maharaj, I felt he became the person, and in Loveyapa too, he is convincingly Gaurav,” he noted.
However, Aamir also pointed out areas where Junaid can improve. He admitted that dancing is not Junaid’s strong suit—something Aamir himself has struggled with. Additionally, he mentioned that Junaid finds social interactions, particularly media interviews, challenging and sometimes gives unconventional responses.
Despite these hurdles, Aamir is confident in Junaid’s growth as an actor and as an individual. He recalled his own struggles with shyness and media appearances early in his career, acknowledging similarities between himself and his son.
Aamir concluded by emphasizing that both he and Junaid prioritize values over conventional success, often making choices that may seem impractical to others but are meaningful to them. He remains hopeful that Junaid will continue to evolve, learn from setbacks, and carve his own path in Bollywood.
