The highly anticipated Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway, designed to enhance connectivity between the two metropolitan cities, is now expected to be fully operational by June 2026. Initially, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) had aimed for an August 2025 completion, but construction delays have led to an extension of the deadline.

Of the total 262-km stretch, only 71 km has been completed so far, while the remaining sections are still under development. The Karnataka segment of the expressway was completed and informally opened to the public in December 2024. However, the portions passing through Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu remain under construction, delaying the project’s full-scale launch.
