The second day of the Parliament Budget Session on Tuesday (March 11, 2025) witnessed intense opposition protests, with Rajya Sabha proceedings beginning amid chaos. Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan refused to admit 21 notices under Rule 267, leading to disruptions. Of these, 18 notices—filed by TMC, Congress, BJD, and AAP—focused on concerns over duplicate voter IDs, prompting a brief adjournment of the House.

Meanwhile, in the Lok Sabha, tensions continued over the alleged imposition of Hindi and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s remarks on Tamil Nadu’s stance on the PM Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme. DMK members staged protests, further adding to the disruptions.

Opposition parties have criticized the Budget, particularly Manipur MPs, who argue that it fails to provide relief to citizens displaced by ongoing conflicts in the state.
