Two Kerala Men Executed in UAE for Murder
Two men from Kerala, Muhammed Rinash A and Muraleedharan P V, have been executed in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after being convicted in separate murder cases.
Rinash, hailing from Kannur, was convicted for the murder of a UAE national. Before his arrest, he had been working at a travel agency in Al Ain. On the other hand, Muraleedharan was sentenced to death for killing a fellow Indian migrant in the UAE.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) was informed about the executions by the UAE authorities on February 28. The Indian embassy immediately reached out to the families of the two men to provide consular assistance. According to the MEA, the embassy had offered all possible legal help during the trial process.
Despite appeals for clemency and mercy petitions submitted by the embassy, the UAE’s highest court upheld their death sentences. Now, the embassy is working to facilitate the participation of the families in the last rites of the deceased.
The incident follows a similar case earlier this year when a woman from Uttar Pradesh was executed in Abu Dhabi on February 15 for the murder of an infant.
