- Priyanka Chopra Reveals Her Gr ...

In an era of 10-step skincare routines and overflowing vanity shelves, Priyanka Chopra Jonas offers a refreshing throwback to simpler, more natural beauty traditions—rooted in family, culture, and ingredients straight from the kitchen.
In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the actress and global icon spoke lovingly about the women and men who influenced her self-care journey, especially her grandmother, whose timeless wisdom left a lasting impact.
“I grew up with a lot of strong women—my mom, my grandmother—and my dad, actually. He liked to take care of himself and had all his products,” Priyanka said. “So I grew up around people who were into self-care.”
The Secret Was Always in the Kitchen
Born and raised in India, Priyanka was immersed in holistic wellness from an early age. Homemade remedies like ubtan—a blend of flour, turmeric, and yogurt—were part of her everyday beauty routine. “My mom used to make exfoliating scrubs at home, and I still use them on my body,” she shared.
But the most profound influence was her grandmother’s coconut oil routine. “She lived on coconut oil—put it all over her body. She passed at 94 with barely three wrinkles,” Priyanka revealed, proving that beauty doesn’t always need to come in expensive bottles.
Dermatologists Weigh In
While traditional remedies offer charm and simplicity, experts caution that natural doesn’t always mean safe for all skin types.
- Dr. Shareefa Chause, a dermatologist in Mumbai, warned that turmeric can cause irritation for people with sensitive skin, eczema, or rosacea.
- Dr. Shikha Khare, from Yatharth Hospitals, added that aggressive exfoliation may damage the skin barrier, leading to redness, pigmentation, or even long-term sensitivity.
Priyanka’s perspective reminds us that beauty is often a legacy—one passed from generation to generation through love, care, and tradition. While it’s important to personalize your routine to suit your skin, sometimes, the most powerful beauty rituals are the simplest ones.
