PM Modi Pays Tribute to Brave Soldiers at Adampur Airbase After Tensions with Pakistan
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Adampur Airbase in Punjab on Tuesday, where he interacted with the Indian Air Force personnel, offering his gratitude to the soldiers for their courage and unwavering dedication. His visit comes just days after India and Pakistan reached a ceasefire agreement following heightened military tensions.
Adampur, an important air force station, had been a target during the recent standoff when Pakistan attempted an attack on the night of May 9-10, shortly after India carried out “Operation Sindoor.” Pakistan claimed that its hypersonic missiles, fired from JF-17 fighter jets, destroyed India’s S-400 air defense system in Adampur. However, Indian officials swiftly rejected this claim, and PM Modi shared a photograph with the missile stack in the background, countering the allegations.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi expressed his admiration for the soldiers, saying, “Earlier this morning, I went to AFS Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination, and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation.”
The visit came shortly after PM Modi lauded the Indian armed forces for their “formidable” performance during “Operation Sindoor,” which was launched on May 7 in response to a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that the operation, which led to the destruction of nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), marked a significant shift in India’s counter-terrorism policy.
PM Modi also called attention to Pakistan’s support for terrorism, highlighting that senior Pakistani military officials attended the funerals of terrorists, which he referred to as “strong evidence” of state-sponsored terrorism.
The military operations, which destroyed multiple terror camps, came after the deadly April 22 attack that claimed 26 lives. Following the intense cross-border actions, both nations agreed to a ceasefire last Saturday, bringing an immediate halt to the drone and missile strikes.
India’s swift response and strategic military actions have marked a new chapter in its approach to counter-terrorism, with PM Modi making it clear that “Operation Sindoor” sets a “new normal” in how India handles national security.
