Kozhikode: A 25-year-old man, Yasir, was arrested on March 19 for allegedly stabbing his wife, Shibila (23), to death and attacking her parents at Engapuzha in Kozhikode. The tragic incident occurred on March 18, reportedly due to a marital dispute.
Crime Unfolds in Front of Victim’s Parents
Shibila had been living separately from Yasir for over four months, citing domestic violence and drug abuse as reasons for wanting to end the marriage. On the day of the incident, Yasir allegedly stabbed her multiple times, leading to her instant death. Her parents, P Abdurahiman and Haseena, who tried to intervene, also sustained serious injuries.
Arrest Near Hospital Premises
Following the attack, Yasir fled the scene but was later found inside his parked car near the Kozhikode Medical College casualty ward, where Shibila had been declared dead. Local residents identified him, leading to his detention by Kozhikode Medical College police. He was then handed over to Thamarassery Police, as the incident fell under their jurisdiction.
Victim’s Family Alleges Prior Abuse
Relatives of the deceased revealed that Yasir had a history of violence. “He would turn sadistic under the influence of drugs, and despite multiple complaints to the police, no strict action was taken,” said Abdul Majeed, a relative of Shibila.
Police Probe Underway
While Yasir was reported to be a synthetic drug addict, authorities clarified that he was sober at the time of the attack. A detailed investigation is ongoing to uncover further details behind the crime.
