WordPress.com has launched an early access version of its new AI Site Builder—a chatbot-based tool that enables users to build complete websites in minutes. This AI assistant guides users through the creation process by asking questions about the site’s purpose, design preferences, and content style, then automatically generates layouts with AI-written copy and images.
Currently, the tool only supports new websites and is limited to basic functionality—e-commerce features are not yet available. Publishing a site requires a WordPress hosting plan, starting at $18/month.
The move comes as WordPress parent Automattic navigates workforce cuts and legal challenges, while doubling down on AI innovation to keep up with rivals like Wix and Squarespace.
