Shivamogga:
Several taluks in Karnataka’s Malnad region are witnessing intense rainfall, prompting local authorities to take precautionary measures. Due to the continued downpour, a holiday was declared for all schools and colleges in Hosanagar, Sagar, and Thirthahalli taluks on Thursday, July 3.

The district administration acted swiftly to ensure the safety of students, as roads and low-lying areas were affected by waterlogging and landslides. According to officials, Hosanagar taluk received the highest recorded rainfall of 160 mm in the last 24 hours.

Emergency teams are on alert, and residents in vulnerable zones have been urged to stay cautious. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the region, predicting more heavy rainfall in the coming days.
