Amid heightened security alerts across key regions in North India, major IT and consulting firms have swiftly moved to remote work setups to ensure employee safety. Companies such as Infosys, HCLTech, Deloitte, KPMG, EY, and Tech Mahindra have all rolled out varying degrees of work-from-home (WFH) policies for staff located in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, and other high-alert zones.
Immediate Measures by Infosys and HCLTech
Infosys has reintroduced flexible remote working, permitting employees to work from home up to 10 days per month or three days a week. The company also advised turning off office lights after 7 PM as a safety measure.
HCLTech went a step further by declaring May 9 as a mandatory WFH day for its employees across Noida, Gurugram, and Chandigarh offices. The company has activated nationwide command centers to provide real-time updates and support for its workforce.
Consulting Firms Tighten Travel and WFH Guidelines
Deloitte and EY have instructed employees in sensitive areas to avoid office travel and work from home. Deloitte has halted all non-essential travel and set up a central command center to monitor the evolving situation. EY, on the other hand, issued a remote work advisory for May 9 and promised additional updates soon.
Tech Mahindra and KPMG Stay Cautious
While Tech Mahindra hasn’t mandated WFH, it has advised employees to suspend non-critical travel and await further guidance. KPMG has enabled remote work for employees in alert zones and encouraged staff to coordinate with business heads for alternative working arrangements.
A Coordinated Industry-Wide Response
With employee well-being as the central concern, India’s top tech and consulting firms are rapidly responding to the evolving geopolitical climate. These proactive steps not only ensure safety but also showcase the resilience and adaptability of the IT and corporate services sectors during uncertain times.
