Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has announced a landmark Rs 65,000 crore investment in Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) production in Andhra Pradesh, marking a major step towards sustainable energy. The project will establish 500 CBG plants across the state, with the first facility’s foundation stone laid in Kanigiri, Prakasam district, by IT & Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh.

Transforming Energy & Employment

The large-scale initiative aims to generate 40 lakh tonnes of clean bio-gas and 1.1 million metric tonnes of organic fertilizer annually. It will also create 2.5 lakh jobs while utilizing 5 lakh acres of barren and waste land across Prakasam, Anantapur, Chittoor, and Kadapa districts.

Strategic Investment & Economic Growth

RIL has allocated Rs 139 crore for the initial phase, leveraging Napier grass technology for bio-gas production. The entire Rs 65,000 crore investment will be rolled out in phases, supporting India’s clean energy goals. Farmers will benefit from lease revenues and fixed prices for grass cultivation, boosting rural incomes.

Reliance’s Green Energy Roadmap

This initiative aligns with India’s biofuel policies and RIL’s broader net-zero emissions strategy. Key benefits include:
Reduced dependence on fossil fuels
Lower carbon emissions
Better agricultural waste management

With FY24 revenues of Rs 10 lakh crore and profits of Rs 79,020 crore, Reliance continues to strengthen its position in India’s clean energy transformation.
