A day after the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a high-level strategy meeting with top bureaucrats on Thursday, calling for seamless inter-ministerial coordination, robust civil defence mechanisms, and fool-proof operation of essential government systems.

The meeting, held in the wake of heightened national alert, brought together Secretaries from major ministries including Defence, Home Affairs, External Affairs, Information & Broadcasting, Health, Telecommunications, and Power. Senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office and the Cabinet Secretariat were also in attendance.

According to the PMO statement, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to:

  • Maintain institutional resilience
  • Ensure the security of critical infrastructure
  • Strengthen internal communications and emergency protocols
  • Counter misinformation and fake news swiftly
  • Coordinate with state authorities and ground-level agencies

Ministries were asked to undertake a comprehensive review of their operational preparedness. Modi stressed the importance of a “whole-of-government” approach, urging all departments to stay alert and maintain clear communication channels throughout the current sensitive period.

The meeting also served as a platform for strategic alignment, where Secretaries detailed their action plans to ensure emergency response readiness and uphold continuity of essential services.

In parallel, an all-party meeting was conducted on the same day, where leaders across political lines were briefed about the details and objectives of Operation Sindoor, reinforcing a united front on matters of national security.
