The Supreme Court has agreed to list a writ petition requesting an FIR and investigation into the discovery of “large sums of unaccounted money” at the official residence of Delhi High Court Judge Justice Yashwant Varma. The incident came to light after a fire broke out at his New Delhi residence on March 14, 2025.
Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna, responding to an oral mention by petitioner-advocate Mathews J. Nedumpara on March 26, stated that the case would be listed in due course. The advocate urged for an expedited hearing, but the CJI advised him to confirm the date with the Supreme Court Registry. The Chief Justice did not comment on the preliminary statements made by the petitioner regarding the case details.
