New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while inaugurating the Navkar Mahamantra Diwas on Wednesday, addressed a global audience with a powerful message — a call to action through ‘Nav Sankalp’, or nine key resolutions. Rooted in the spiritual wisdom of Jainism, these resolutions aim to foster a sustainable, cleaner, and more self-reliant India.

PM Modi encouraged the younger generation to incorporate these principles into daily life, stating, “These are not just mantras, they are directions for a better future. Let us all pledge to practice these nine resolutions for the good of our society, environment, and nation.”

The Nine Resolutions Include:

  1. Water Conservation: PM Modi highlighted the urgency of preserving water, invoking the prediction of Jain monk Buddhi Sagar Maharaj who foresaw a time when water would be sold like groceries. “Every drop matters. Let’s protect our water for future generations,” he said.
  2. “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (A Tree in Mother’s Name): Advocating for mass afforestation, he revealed that over 100 crore trees have been planted recently and urged everyone to plant trees in honor of their mothers.
  3. Cleanliness & Hygiene: Continuing the spirit of Swachh Bharat, PM Modi called for individual responsibility in maintaining cleanliness, linking it to true freedom and dignity.
  4. Vocal for Local: Urging youth to rethink their daily consumption, he said, “Make a list of foreign products you use and reduce it gradually. Choose Indian-made goods that reflect our culture and craftsmanship.”
  5. Desh Darshan (Explore India First): Emphasizing domestic tourism, he encouraged citizens to explore the diverse beauty of India before looking abroad.

PM Modi’s speech focused heavily on collective responsibility, environmental consciousness, and cultural pride. “Let us move forward with these Sankalps not only as citizens but as custodians of a better tomorrow,” he concluded.
