Netflix to Stream NASA+ Content: Live Rocket Launches and Space Missions Coming This Summer

In a groundbreaking collaboration, NASA and Netflix are joining forces to bring outer space into living rooms around the world. Announced this week, NASA+—the agency’s dedicated streaming platform—will soon be available directly on Netflix, offering subscribers live coverage of rocket launches, astronaut spacewalks, and breathtaking views from the International Space Station (ISS).

Set to roll out in Summer 2025, this partnership marks the first time NASA’s live content will be hosted on Netflix. The platform will stream real-time missions, behind-the-scenes footage, interviews, and exclusive documentaries showcasing the cutting edge of space science and innovation.

Bringing Space to a Global Audience

Rebecca Sirmons, general manager of NASA+, emphasized the shared mission behind the partnership: “Both NASA+ and Netflix are committed to inspiring new generations. Whether you’re watching from your couch or your phone, the goal is to bring the story of space exploration to as many people as possible.”

NASA+ was originally launched in 2023 as a free, ad-free digital service available via the NASA website and app. The collaboration with Netflix—boasting over 700 million global users—is expected to significantly boost public engagement with NASA’s missions and discoveries.

What to Expect

When the partnership goes live later this summer, Netflix subscribers can expect:

  • Live rocket launches
  • Spacewalks from the ISS
  • Real-time Earth views from orbit
  • Science mission updates
  • In-depth documentaries and interviews

No Extra Cost for Subscribers

All NASA+ content will be accessible as part of existing Netflix plans, with no additional charge. The content will also continue to be available via NASA’s own digital platforms for those who prefer direct access.

Looking Ahead

While an exact release date has not yet been announced, NASA confirmed that a full programming schedule will be shared closer to launch. This initiative follows NASA’s earlier venture into streaming with a FAST (Free Ad-supported Streaming TV) channel available on Prime Video.

With space exploration becoming increasingly relevant and exciting for public audiences, this partnership marks a significant leap in how science content is shared, consumed, and celebrated across the globe.
