With an impressive length of 399.9 metres and width of 61.3 metres, MSC Turkiye can carry up to 24,346 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), making it one of the largest and most advanced eco-friendly vessels in global maritime trade.

A green container ship like MSC Turkiye is engineered to minimize its environmental footprint. It typically runs on low-emission fuels such as LNG or biofuels and includes energy-efficient propulsion systems, onboard electricity solutions, and exhaust-cleaning technology. Some vessels even harness solar or wind power to further reduce carbon emissions.

Vizhinjam Port, developed by Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd, is India’s only trans-shipment hub capable of hosting vessels of this magnitude. Strategically located just 10 nautical miles from the east-west shipping channel, the port provides direct access to major global trade routes linking Europe, the Gulf, Southeast Asia, and beyond.

In March 2025, Vizhinjam crossed a milestone by handling over 100,000 TEUs, cementing its growing status as a global shipping hub. Adani Ports’ network also saw record cargo volumes, reaching 41.5 million metric tonnes, driven by growth in both container and liquid cargo.

With the arrival of MSC Turkiye, Vizhinjam reinforces its vision of becoming a leader in sustainable maritime logistics, aligned with global climate and shipping standards.
