Mohanlal’s Thudarum has emerged as a colossal success at the box office, achieving a remarkable ₹100 crore+ milestone in 2025, marking a historic moment in Malayalam cinema. The film earned ₹13.85 crore net in India during its opening weekend, and by Day 9, it had accumulated ₹62.88 crore net domestically, with a worldwide total of ₹119.8 crore, signaling its unstoppable momentum.
In Kerala, where Mohanlal continues to enjoy unrivaled stardom, Thudarum grossed an impressive ₹47 crore within its first seven days. This has put the film on track to potentially surpass the all-time state records set by his previous hits, 2018 (₹89 crore) and L2: Empuraan (₹87 crore), both of which featured Mohanlal.
One of the most significant achievements for Thudarum is its rapid rise to the ₹100 crore global mark, accomplishing this feat in just six days. This makes it one of the fastest Malayalam films to reach this milestone. It has already outpaced the lifetime worldwide earnings of Lucifer (₹128 crore) and currently ranks as the 8th highest-grossing Malayalam film globally.
Though domestic collections have slowed slightly in the second weekend, Thudarum is still approximately ₹37 crore away from entering the ₹100 crore India net club. The coming weeks will be crucial in determining if the film can sustain its pace and reach that coveted figure.
For Mohanlal, 2025 has already turned into a landmark year. Alongside Thudarum, he also delivered the massive success of L2: Empuraan (₹264.9 crore worldwide), solidifying his dominance in the industry. He is now the only Malayalam actor to have two ₹100 crore+ grossing films in a single year and has also had four ₹50 crore+ films in Kerala alone.
Despite stiff competition from films in other languages, Thudarum has shown impressive staying power in Kerala, reinforcing Mohanlal’s box-office dominance and the success of his recent comeback, which began with Neru in 2023.
