Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up to expand its lineup of black-themed SUVs with the upcoming Thar Roxx Black Edition. The new edition was teased in a social media post by Pratap Bose, Chief Design and Creative Officer at Mahindra, featuring Bollywood actor John Abraham.

In a short video clip, John Abraham, known for his love of black cars, shared that every vehicle in his garage is black. The post’s caption further hinted at the launch, stating, “When it’s a Thar ROXX in the works for a special someone, the anticipation knows no bounds. The countdown is on.”

What to Expect from the Thar Roxx Black Edition

The all-black variant of the Mahindra Thar Roxx is expected to follow in the footsteps of the recently launched Scorpio N Carbon Edition and the upcoming XUV700 Ebony Edition. It will likely feature an exclusive edition-specific name and come with blacked-out design elements, including black alloy wheels and black interiors.

Currently, the Mahindra Thar Roxx is available in six trims—MX1, MX3, AX3L, MX5, AX5L, and AX7L—priced between ₹13.99 lakh and ₹23.09 lakh (ex-showroom). The Black Edition may be based on the top-spec AX7L variant and could see a slight price increase due to its premium aesthetic upgrades.

No Mechanical Changes Expected

While the Black Edition will focus on visual enhancements, the SUV will continue to be powered by the same engine options—a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol or a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. Transmission choices will include both manual and automatic options, with a 4×4 system available on the diesel variant.

With the increasing demand for black-themed SUVs, Mahindra’s Thar Roxx Black Edition is expected to attract enthusiasts looking for a bold and rugged off-roader. An official announcement regarding the launch date is expected soon.
