Daily travel along the Aroor-Thuravoor stretch of National Highway (NH) 66 has turned into a struggle for thousands of commuters, as traffic congestion and prolonged delays become routine.
The cause of this disruption is the massive construction work underway—Kerala’s longest elevated highway is being built over the existing four-lane corridor. While this has temporarily transformed the area into a congestion hotspot, the long-term vision behind the project offers a positive outlook.
Once completed, the elevated highway is expected to significantly ease traffic flow, reduce travel time, and enhance safety. It also reflects a broader push to modernize Kerala’s transport infrastructure, bringing the state in line with national development goals.
Despite the current inconvenience, the project stands as a symbol of progress—one that promises to reshape travel and connectivity in this vital region of the state.
