Infosys Extends Financial and Career Support to 240 Trainees Let Go After Assessment Failures

In a notable development, Infosys has offered a relief package to 240 entry-level trainees who were recently let go after failing to meet the criteria of the company’s internal training assessments. The move comes amid a broader hiring strategy and reflects the IT major’s attempt to cushion the impact on affected individuals.

According to a report by Moneycontrol, the terminated trainees were informed via email that they would receive one month of salary as severance. Additionally, Infosys is offering them the option to undertake external training programmes in both IT and BPM (Business Process Management) domains, at no cost to the candidates.

The company is partnering with NIIT and UpGrad to deliver these upskilling courses. Furthermore, Infosys is covering travel allowances for those relocating from their hometowns to the training centre in Mysuru or Bengaluru, and also providing accommodation during the training period.

The email noted that despite providing extra support such as mock assessments, extended preparation time, and doubt-clearing sessions, the trainees were unable to meet the required standards. As a result, their participation in the apprenticeship programme was discontinued.

“As you explore opportunities outside of Infosys, we have arranged professional outplacement services to assist you. You may also opt for an Infosys-sponsored BPM training programme, which may open up future opportunities within Infosys BPM Limited,” the company stated.

Infosys had previously let go of a batch of trainees in February under similar circumstances and has now extended this support framework to them as well.

Despite the layoffs, Infosys CFO Jayesh Sanghrajka stated during a recent press briefing that the company plans to hire over 20,000 freshers in FY26, even as it navigates a low-demand environment with projected revenue growth of just 0–3% for the current fiscal year.
