An Indian national was tragically stabbed to death in the Rockland area near Ottawa, Canada, as confirmed by the Indian Embassy on Saturday morning. Authorities have taken a suspect into custody in connection with the incident.

While specific details are still emerging, the Indian Embassy stated it is closely working with a local community association to support the grieving family.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of an Indian national in Rockland near Ottawa, due to stabbing. Police has stated a suspect has been taken into custody. We are in close contact through a local community association to provide all possible assistance to the bereaved kin,” the Embassy posted on X.

Local media reported a fatal stabbing and an arrest in Clarence-Rockland early Saturday, though it remains unconfirmed whether this is the same case referred to by the Embassy.

The Ontario Provincial Police have advised residents of Rockland to expect a heightened police presence in the area, according to CBC News.
