India has strongly condemned a security lapse during External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s visit to the United Kingdom, where a pro-Khalistan extremist breached security and desecrated the Indian flag. The incident, which took place on Wednesday evening outside Chatham House in London, has sparked outrage after videos of the act went viral online.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a firm statement denouncing the provocative actions of the separatist group, calling them a misuse of democratic freedoms. “We have seen the footage of the security breach during the minister’s visit to the UK. We strongly condemn the provocative activities of this small group of extremists,” the MEA stated.

India also urged the UK government to uphold its diplomatic obligations and ensure the safety of visiting dignitaries. “We expect the host government to fully adhere to its responsibilities in such cases,” the statement added.

The breach occurred as Jaishankar was leaving Chatham House following an official discussion. Taking advantage of a brief lapse in police response, a protester ran toward the minister’s convoy and tore the Indian tricolour while others shouted pro-Khalistani slogans in the background.

British authorities quickly intervened, removing the individual and others involved from the area. The incident has raised concerns over security measures for foreign dignitaries in the UK, with India emphasizing the need for stricter enforcement to prevent such disruptions in the future.
