YouTuber Harnoor Singh Leaves Microsoft Job in the US, Returns to India for a Career Break
While many Indian tech professionals in the U.S. are navigating uncertainty due to tighter immigration rules and widespread layoffs, software engineer and content creator Harnoor Singh has made a bold move in the opposite direction—resigning from his role at Microsoft and relocating back to India.
Harnoor, who worked for three years as a software engineer with Microsoft in the U.S., announced his decision on X (formerly Twitter), stating:
“I resigned and moved to India for now! Thank you Microsoft for beautiful 3 years!”
Singh, also known for his YouTube channel and podcast, has built a strong following by sharing content about tech, careers, and life in the U.S. His announcement surprised many fans, with reactions pouring in across social platforms, including LinkedIn and Reddit.
Currently based in Amritsar, Punjab, Singh revealed that he’s taking a six-month career break before deciding his next move. He plans to travel, explore, and reflect on what lies ahead.
“That’s really surprising but good luck & best wishes for your next chapter,” commented a LinkedIn follower.
“This is quite tough to believe bro. I was thinking of catching up with you in June,” another fan wrote on X.
His departure is particularly noteworthy as it comes during a time when some Indian professionals on H-1B visas are hesitant to travel back home for fear of immigration complications or re-entry issues.
While speculation is rife about whether he will launch his own startup or pivot entirely, Singh has made it clear: this break is about stepping back and recharging.
Whatever he decides next, it’s clear that Harnoor Singh is moving on his own terms—and taking his followers along for the ride.
