- Bengaluru’s Namma Metro: Ris ...

For Mahindra Kumar, a daily metro commuter traveling between Baiyappanahalli and Cubbon Park, the recent fare hike has made a noticeable dent in his budget. Previously paying ₹19 for a one-way trip, he now shells out ₹28—an increase of ₹9 per ride.
“I now spend ₹18 more per day, which adds up to over ₹500 a month. It may not seem like much to some, but for regular commuters like me, it’s a burden,” Kumar shared.
The rising cost of public transport in Bengaluru isn’t limited to the metro alone. Bus fares on the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) have also seen hikes, making daily commutes increasingly expensive for the city’s residents. As travel costs rise, many commuters are feeling the financial strain of getting around India’s tech capital.
