Bengaluru: A promotional video released by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for the upcoming Bengaluru Tunnel Road project has drawn criticism after netizens pointed out glaring errors, including references to Mumbai landmarks. The video, meant to highlight Bengaluru’s infrastructure advancements, has now become the subject of online mockery.
Mumbai References in Bengaluru Project Video
Viewers were quick to spot mistakes in the animation, identifying elements seemingly copied from Mumbai’s tunnel road project. In particular, the video prominently displays signboards with “Entry to Nariman Point” and “Worli”, both well-known locations in Mumbai, raising doubts about the authenticity of the footage.
Additionally, geographical inaccuracies were noted in the video, including misplaced locations of key Bengaluru landmarks:
- Bengaluru Airport was incorrectly positioned towards Nagasandra, an area far from its actual location.
- The international airport was shown near Nelamangala, creating further confusion.
A Repeated Blunder?
This is not the first time the Bengaluru Tunnel Road project has faced such criticism. Earlier, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) prepared by a private consultant was also accused of copy-pasting elements from Mumbai’s tunnel project, raising concerns about the project’s credibility.
Public Concerns & Criticism
Citizens have expressed fears that these errors in documentation and planning may translate into execution mistakes in the tunnel road’s actual construction. Social media users have flooded the BBMP with questions, demanding accountability and clarification on whether the city’s ambitious tunnel project is being planned with due diligence.
BBMP Yet to Respond
As public scrutiny intensifies, the BBMP is yet to issue a statement addressing these apparent discrepancies. The controversy has also reignited calls for greater transparency and scrutiny in the execution of large-scale infrastructure projects in Bengaluru.
