In the city where traffic signals often feel like stop signs for eternity, a Bengaluru resident has turned commuter agony into comic genius. Stuck in a seemingly endless jam near Brookfield, X user Lalit Gour shared his real-time Google Maps horror: 48 minutes to cover a distance of just 3.6 kilometers.
Alongside the screenshot of his slow-motion journey, Lalit posted a caption that had the internet in splits:
“Newton’s fourth law of motion: A Bangalore auto at rest will remain at rest.”
The hilarious spin on Newton’s classic principle resonated with thousands online. The post went viral instantly, sparking a wave of shared experiences, jokes, and traffic trauma tales from fellow Bengalureans.
From a commuter who drove 19 km in 50 minutes, to another who said, “When an interviewer asks me where I see myself in 5 years, I think… stuck in Bangalore traffic”—the city’s residents poured out their frustration with a touch of humour.
The Brookfield–Silk Board–Electronic City stretch, already notorious for bumper-to-bumper logjams, now has a new claim to fame as the birthplace of a modern physics joke.
As jokes go viral, they also highlight a serious issue: Bengaluru’s ever-deteriorating traffic infrastructure that tests the patience (and now, creativity) of its people.
